I know I know....

Well I can't believe it's been sooo long since I last posted, guess I live a pretty busy live, yeah right, just lazy. Well tomorrow I begin back to work after a well needed vacation, back to the grind, and boy am I depressed, try as I might on my vacation, a pot of gold did not find it's way to my doorstep so I would not have needed to return to work. I can honestly say, as my wife has agreed this has been one of the most enjoyable vacation we have ever had, and we did not go away on what you would call a regular vacation, it was mostly day trips to places we have talked about going but have not in quite a while, and pretty much ever day was an adventure for us. So over the next few days, I will be sharing our destinations with, that way I no one can say I have been ignoring my blog...hahaha. So till tomorrow, and I' m sure you will all be waiting breathlessly.

Event ticketing

I guess I'm really bored now, two posts in one day, but like I said in my last post I'm sitting around with a lot of time on my hands. As I was sitting around today, I decided to look around for some tickets to concerts and sporting events I might like to check out this summer and of course since I waited sooo long to check I was left with only going through auction sites, what a joke. I mean when did it become okay to expect a person to fork out hundreds of dollars to go to a concert. I mean the true fans are being locked out of the concerts they want because money grubbing a**holes are getting the great seats and sticking it to the fans. I thought a few years ago it was great when the artists started fan clubs and offered tickets to they're fans as pre sales, but alass the money grubbing brokers are catching on and joining the fan clubs and getting in before anyone else can and once again the true fan is being screwed!!!! I understand some fan clubs are trying to stop this but looking for these tickets on the auction sites, but there is only so much they can do too, and what stops the broker from getting someone to sign up and use them, which I'm sure some are actually doing. Don't expect the government to do anything about it, I just read the other day that most states have stopped trying to go after the brokers and some are repealing the laws that they currently have against scalping, cause they feel it's a lost cause. Lastly, it's the fans that do pay the money that are the ones to blame maybe if the fan stopped paying the high prices the brokers would stop, but unfortunately there's always someone out there that wants to impress someone else, so they will pay the money. The only thing that will stop this is for the brokers to start getting stuck with tickets then maybe they will stop.
Another thing, when did these reunion tours mean you could screw the fans. Come one 300 bucks to see a band that hasn't been together for 20 years, if they are so broke then why didn't they get together sooner. I thought artist did what they did because they loved, not for the pay!!!! Stop with the big stage shows with explosives and fire, and play your music, that's what we're there for, not to see who has the biggest damn flames.....

Blahh....Sickly

I spent the last few days home sick, it has given me time to reflect over something, first of all being sick really sucks, but mostly it gives you time to thing about what you have, and be thankful for those things. First my loving and caring wife, who by the way is sick now, I realize without her I would have nothing. Second my health, yeah yeah I know I'm sick and I'm thinking of my health, but I you all know what i mean, overall I'm a pretty healthy person, and I realize not everyone else around us is, I could be a lot worse off. This brings me to my point I guess, as I was sitting around, I was watching Oprah today, now anyone can tell you I'm not normally an Oprah watcher but being sick, after a while you'll watch pretty much anything and today it was Oprah, okay anyway, today Michael Moore was on about his new movie "Sicko", it is about the "medical system" in the U.S. and it seems like a very interesting film, like Moore's other films it makes you think about where we live. One of the things that he mentioned was the the U.S. is ranked 37th in the world when it comes to health care for it's citizen's, come on 37th, I thought we lived in an civilized society. Moore brought up the fact that in most countries, basically every other country the health care system is run by the government and is "NOT FOR PROFIT", unlike the U.S. Why do we as a country of freedom but up with this kind of treatment from person's that we elect? I know I know we have the right to vote, vote and our voices will be heard, but are they really being heard?..... So next time you go to the doctor or the hospital look around and remember 37th in the world for quality of health care.....

Why Do We Have to Worry About Everyone Else

Why in today's hustle and bustle life do we find it necessary to worry about what everyone is doing. It amazing how some people just done have enough to do with out worrying about what the next person is doing a few feet away. I mean i know my day is pretty busy with everything I have to do that the last thing I'm worried about is everyone else around me. Last time I checked I'm responsible for my own self, and to hell with anyone else, except the ones that are close to me, YES YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!! I believe that is one of the reason's this country is in the shape we are in when it comes to relations, both race and creed. If we stopped pointing fingers at one another and looked inside ourselves once in a while maybe we wouldn't have all these problems, but I'm sure we'd all find something else to complain about. Well I guess it was short and sweet today, but that about what I'm feeling, it's been a trying week and I have the weekend to work so I'm sure it ain't over yet.

Caring for another human being....what's happened to it?

When did we forget that we are all human beings and we all live on the same earth. Over the last week all the talk has been about relationships, but when we get right down to it, aren't we all humans on the same planet? Why do we find it necessary to find fault in everything someone else says or does even if it doesn't affect us. ( and yes I'm just as guilty sometimes) Do we all say something stupid and sometimes offensive? Sure we do,but most of the time they are off the cuff remarks and we apologize for them. Most people and I'm guilty of it, don't think before we say anything, especially in the heat of the moment, but most of the time we realize what we've said and apologize for it. I know I've touched on this subject on my previous blog, but it's still bothering me that we are still talking about language almost two weeks after the initial comments and we all know what I'm talking about and it kind of hits on my title.
One of the things that make this a great country that we live in is our freedom, granted with any kind of freedom we have to have our own personal censorship, being humans we all have feelings no matter what we tell others around us. Once again I'm going to preface this all by saying I'm not excusing what was said, however as it's been said time and time again since, this should open a new "dialogue" in our country...how many times have we heard that comment made and nothing changes. To be totally honest I don't care what someone thinks or says about me, does it hurt when something bad is said sure but you know what I get over it and move on, I don't become "devastated" by it, I'm not scared for life, and neither are most people. My belief is comments like that are what scar or devastate someone, not the actually words or deed, unless the deed is physical, they usually leave marks..., Well I guess I've exhausted this for now, hope I haven't offended anyone if i have get over it!!!!!! (just kidding)

Language

Well I guess it was just a matter of time before i got to this. Over the last week this has been a huge issues so i guess i want to add my two cents. Let me prefise this by first saying I mean no insult to anyone. Anyone that knows me knows how I mean what I'm saying and it's not to belittle anyone. Language in our country over the past few years has really become an issue, especially about who can and can't say what. Now everyone says that our constitution gives us the freedom of speech, which it does, but doesn't common moral decent sense dictate what we SHOULD say? It seems that basically a lack of respect for each other has made it seem Okay to say or use certain words. I mean let's be honest growing up we were always told "Stick and Stones..." (you all know the rest), or maybe the bible says it the best 'turn the other cheek,( or was that Kenny Rogers), either way I think you know what i mean. Why have we as a society think that because we have the right to do/say something it's okay. I know I might not be making sense here i think most people understand what I'm saying. Now we all know what i am referring to, and I am in no way condoning what was said, but I do believe that the whole issue was blown way out of proportions. I really don't understand though why we continue to have a double standard in this country and I am not only referring to this issue, but there are many other double standards, i believe that in the present today society everyone should be equal, no mater if race, sex, or believes, but I also believe with that comes the good with the bad. Last time i checked we're all human beings and should be treated as such.

Why Not Children

Well I've decided to join the millions of others out ther in cyberspace and start my own BLOG!!!. I hear it's a great way to relive tension and put down you thoughts, so I figured why not. I always had a dream of being a writer when I was younger, real life intervend so I use this instead. I guess I'll usually write about what I think is going on in the world and other randomnise( is that even a word) that is in my brain.
I guess I should give some background about first. I am a married thirtysomething, no children, work for a major commuinications company, too embarassed to mention it's name here. Huge baseball, ice hockey and Nascar fan. Love music, really doean't matter what as long as it's good, by my display name you might be able to guess, for you others it's Dave Matthews band (DMB).
I am asked on a daily basis why we don't have any children, well there's a few reason, first of all to be totally honest my wife and I are very selfish, I know that sounds kind of cruel, mean, and as a close friend would say RUDE, however we are both only children, and being only children it really has affect you as you get older. Now, I am in no way blaming our parents, both of us came from rather hard times in the beginning, both of our parents struggled in the beginning to raise us, don't get me wrong neither of us were left without but it was a struggle, it became better as we grew older. I believe we both look back and are somewhat afriad that would be us, it's just something we don't want to do. Next is the fact that neither of us want that responsibility, I give great credit to those out there that do it, we have a close friend that has four children and she is an incredible mother, I just don't think I could handle it. I need to stop for a mintue here and explain, it's not that we don't like children, we've both helped in someways raise cousins we are both close to, so it's not a thing were we don't like them. It's nice to have fun with them, but it's nice to return them to there parents after a while, No this is not an offer to watch them...you know who you are!!!!
Finally, my wife has some health issues, we've never been told that having children would be a danger, but it's just not a chance I'm willing to take, my wife is world and my life, I could never imagine going on without her in it. I would never in a million years hold that againest a child if we were to ever have one and something happen to her, so that's not an issue either.
We've alwasy said that if it did happen and we got pregnant we would take it as a sign, but to be totally honest, I don't ever see it happening.
